The manufacturing sector in Laos is currently undergoing a transition from raw material export to value-added processing. In the non-metallic mineral field, there is a growing demand for refined kaolin clay for skin whitening as the local beauty and personal care industry expands in urban centers like Vientiane.
Geographically, Laos possesses rich mineral deposits, yet the technical capacity for precise beneficiation remains limited. Many local factories struggle with consistency in the density of wollastonite used in construction materials, leading to a reliance on high-quality imports to meet international structural standards.
Furthermore, the agricultural and filtration sectors are beginning to recognize that diatomaceous earth is silica based, utilizing its porous nature for water purification and soil amendment to combat the humid tropical climate's impact on crop stability.
